M&A Spin Off:  Change Strategy & Enablement

The Challenge:

Global chemical client was in the process to spin off and create three brand new companies to increase market focus and business agility.

The Approach

Design and develop a change management strategy and enablement to enable IT migration and knowledge transfer.

Planning

    • Conducted an inventory of all IT applications.
    • Analyzed dependencies, criticality, and prioritize migration order.
    • Identified key stakeholders and application owners across both companies.
    • Established governance structure and steering committee.

Strategy

    • Developed an IT migration strategy and roadmap.
    • Assessed the impact of the migration on talent, processes, culture and organization.
    • Built personas and identify key moments of change.
    • Designed change strategy, and approach for implementation.

Migration

    • Delivered communication and stakeholder engagement activities to ensure awareness and adoption.
    • Managed knowledge capture and knowledge transfer plan.
    • Launched knowledge transfer portal as a single source of information and learning.

Post-Migration

    • Provided training and support to employees to help them adapt to the new systems.
The Results
  • 400 applications, 80 databases and 250 virtual machines from 3 data centers were migrated in year one.
